Cybercriminals and scammers get smarter every day. You don't need a computer science degree or confusing jargon to keep your family and accounts protected—you just need the right playbook.
“Any book that educates readers and makes them want to take action for such a serious topic is necessary to buy.”
We are in the digital age where we use our personal information and credit cards online to buy food, clothes, electronics, etc. The advancement of technology has allowed people’s buying experience to be fast and efficient. The caveat to e-commerce is that it brings in more ways for individuals' information to be stolen, corrupted, and/or used for personal gain. Stop the Hack! is the author John Brogan's response to thwart these cyberattacks.
We have all either been hacked, know someone who has, or read a story about hacking. Even big companies and brands have felt this privacy invasion, so it's no surprise that the everyday person will too. In this book, the author provides many sources and things you can do to safeguard yourself. One that’s commonly discussed is buying a good antivirus software program for all your devices. So many helpful tools are covered in this book, including how to create the strongest passwords, what software to buy, and how to avoid scam emails. Prevention is the key to safety, so if you’re worried about your identity being stolen, I recommend you get this book.
Usually books about technology are meant for those who are experts in that field. Even though the author has an extensive background in computer programming, he’s making sure readers do not feel ill-equipped while following his procedures. All ages are able to easily digest the information provided without feeling left out.
As with any self-help book, Brogan provides credible sources that I was able to look up and browse. The ability to learn about all these new ways to protect my personal information is what I loved most about my reading experience. I didn't even know what a Faraday bag was until I read this book, but now I want to get one. I’ve always heard about a VPN but never knew its importance—that wasn’t until I read Stop the Hack!
I'm happy that I chose this book to read. It's a great source of help for those who are deemed vulnerable during this new age of technology. Any book that educates readers and makes them want to take action for such a serious topic is necessary to buy. I have no qualms with the content in this book. I’m rating this well-written book 5 out of 5 stars.
“Finally, a cybersecurity book that doesn't feel like a tech manual. Read the entire booklet in one night, updated my settings, and feel completely relieved.”
